T130

Massey Ferguson T130 – Transmission Controller: Transmission Module Low Supply Voltage (TRANS)

Issue description

Indicates a transmission controller failure where the internal supply voltage (typically the +5V or +8V regulator) has dropped out of range low, or the main battery supply voltage reaching the module has fallen below the acceptable lower limit.

Check the cause

  1. Check Battery Voltage: Use a multimeter to verify the battery is fully charged (should read around 12.6V resting).

  2. Check Alternator Output: Verify the alternator regulator output is providing the correct charging voltage to the system.

  3. Inspect Wiring and Grounds: Check the transmission controller's wiring harness connections to power and ground. Look for loose pins, frayed wires, or corrosion that could cause a voltage drop.

  4. Service Tool Monitoring: Connect the diagnostic service tool, open the MONITOR window, and select 'TRANS BATTERY VOLTAGE' to see the live voltage reading the controller is receiving.

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Power Supply Issues

If the battery is weak or the alternator is failing, replace or recharge them as necessary.

  2. Repair Wiring

If the power or ground connections to the transmission controller are damaged or corroded, clean the grounds and repair the harness. Clear the code and retest.

  3. Replace the Controller

If the battery voltage, alternator output, and controller wiring connections are all at the correct levels but the T130 code persists, the transmission controller has suffered an internal regulator failure. You must remove and replace the Transmission Controller.

  4. Recalibrate

After replacing the transmission module, a clutch and transmission calibration procedure will likely need to be performed using the dealer service tool.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Transmission Controller / Transmission Control ECU / Transmission Module

The exact ECU part number depends heavily on the specific transmission equipped (e.g., Dyna-4 vs. Dyna-6) and the tractor's serial number. Ensure the replacement module is programmed for your specific Massey Ferguson 5600 series model and transmission type.
