Massey Ferguson T140 – Transmission Control Module (TRANS / TRANS1): High Pressure Brake System Pressure Too High

Braking pressure within the 50 km/h (31 mph) high-pressure braking unit has exceeded the maximum allowable threshold.

   Check the X495 Brake Sensor, its connector, and the wiring harness for damage, corrosion, or short circuits.

   Verify the voltage converter and power supply to the sensor to rule out voltage irregularities.

   Perform a mechanical pressure test using a mechanical hydraulic pressure gauge on the high-pressure braking unit to verify actual system pressure. If normal, the sensor is likely faulty. If high, the issue lies within the braking unit's pressure regulation valves.

   Relieve Pressure

   Turn off the tractor and actuate the brake pedals repeatedly to relieve residual hydraulic pressure in the braking unit.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the X495 high-pressure brake sensor on the 50 km/h braking unit.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the X495 sensor. Use a wrench to carefully unthread the sensor from the hydraulic port. Have a shop towel ready to catch minor fluid drips.

   Install the New Sensor

   Thread the new pressure sensor into the port and tighten it to the OEM torque specification.

   Reconnect and Test

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Start the tractor, allow the brake system to pressurize, and check for leaks.

   Clear Codes

   Use a diagnostic tool to clear the T140 fault code from the TRANS1 module and test drive the tractor to ensure the code does not return. (If the mechanical test proved the pressure was actually too high, the high-pressure braking unit or its regulating valve will need to be rebuilt or replaced instead of the sensor).
