T147

Massey Ferguson T147 – Transmission Module 1 (TRANS1): PTO clutch power too high

Issue description

The system detects a Power Shuttle or Powershift module slippage of >10% for more than 700 milliseconds by comparing the engine speed and the intermediate/PTO speed.

Check the cause

  1. Perform diagnostic tests on the speed sensors using the Massey Ferguson Wintest software.

  2. Check the speed sensor and connector pins for any signs of corrosion or poor contact.

  3. With the ignition off and the sensor disconnected at room temperature, check the sensor's resistance. It must read 450 Ohms +/- 20 Ohms.

  4. Check for alternating voltage from the sensor when the gear is turning.

  5. Perform a continuity test on the earth wire and the signal wire, and perform a short-circuit test on the harness.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect wiring harness

Disconnect the wiring harness from the faulty speed sensor.

  2. Remove old sensor

Unscrew and remove the old sensor from the housing.

  3. Apply thread sealant

Apply a small amount of Loctite 5922 to the threads of the new sensor.

  4. Install new sensor

Manually screw the new sensor in fully against the gear.

  5. Reconnect wiring harness

Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the connector makes good contact.

  6. Clear fault codes and test

Clear the fault codes and test the PTO operation to ensure the slippage reading has resolved.
