   Test the battery voltage with a multimeter (a fully charged battery should read around 12.6V) and check the alternator regulator output to ensure the system is charging properly.

   Monitor controller voltage using the Massey Ferguson service tool by opening the MONITOR window and selecting 'TRANS BATTERY VOLTAGE' to see what voltage the controller is actively reading.

   Inspect Circuit X697 by checking the controller's connection to power and ground, specifically tracing the wiring for the positive battery terminal input to the Autotronic 5 module.

   Test and Service the Battery

   Start by cleaning the battery terminals and ensuring tight connections. If the battery fails a load test or reads low voltage, recharge or replace it.

   Verify Alternator Output

   Start the tractor and verify the alternator is outputting sufficient voltage (typically 13.5V - 14.5V). If the alternator is failing, it will cause system-wide low voltage codes.

   Inspect Fuses and Relays

   Check the fuse box and relays that supply power to the Autotronic 5 transmission controller. Replace any blown fuses or swap suspect relays.

   Check the Wiring Harness

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission controller, focusing on the X697 power supply wire. Look for chafing, corrosion at the connector pins, or broken wires that could cause a voltage drop.

   Replace the Controller

   If the battery, alternator, fuses, and wiring all test good (meaning a full 12V+ is reaching the module's connector), but the module still reports < 7V internally, the Autotronic 5 controller has suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.
