Issue description
The current measured at the X480 - Powershift module solenoid valve is greater than the maximum possible value, typically indicating a short circuit to ground in the wiring harness or an internal failure of the solenoid coil causing excessive current draw.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission powershift module (X480 circuit) for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinched harnesses that could cause a short to ground
Disconnect the X480 solenoid and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage
Measure the resistance across the pins of the X480 solenoid coil using a multimeter (an unusually low reading indicates an internal short causing excessive current draw)
With the solenoid and transmission controller disconnected, check for continuity between the solenoid power supply wire and chassis ground to verify if the wiring harness is shorted
Repair steps
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Ensure the tractor is safely parked and powered down before beginning work.
Clean the area around the transmission powershift module to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Maintain a clean workspace to avoid hydraulic contamination.
Locate the X480 Powershift module solenoid valve on the transmission control block.
Identify the correct solenoid valve for replacement.
Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the X480 solenoid.
Remove the retaining bolts/hardware holding the solenoid valve in place.
Have a catch pan ready, as a small amount of transmission/hydraulic fluid may leak out.
Extract the old solenoid valve and inspect the mounting port.
Ensure no debris or old O-ring material is left behind in the port.
Lubricate the O-rings on the new OEM solenoid valve with clean transmission fluid and carefully insert it into the port.
Proper lubrication prevents O-ring damage during installation.
Secure the solenoid with the retaining hardware and torque to the manufacturer's specifications.
Fasten the new solenoid valve securely.
Reconnect the electrical connector securely.
Ensure the wiring harness is properly seated on the new solenoid.
Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and check for leaks. Clear the stored T249 fault code using a diagnostic tool and test the transmission through its powershift ranges.
Verify the repair by ensuring no leaks are present and the fault code does not return during operation.
