Massey Ferguson T255 – TRANS2: Transmission Input Shaft Speed Sensor Calibration Fault

Issue description

The transmission controller is unable to properly calibrate or read a valid calibration value from the transmission input shaft speed sensor.

Perform diagnostic tests on the speed sensors using the Massey Ferguson Wintest software to monitor the sensor's live output and confirm the failure.
Check the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the sensor for corrosion, moisture, or open circuits.
Verify that the sensor is positioned correctly relative to the tone ring. Check for an incorrect gap or a tone ring that is damaged or covered in metallic debris.

Preparation
Park the tractor on level ground, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the mounting area around the transmission input shaft speed sensor on the transmission housing to prevent dirt from entering the transmission.
Removal
Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor and remove the retaining bolt(s) to pull the sensor out.
Installation
Install the new sensor. Ensure it is seated properly and positioned correctly relative to the internal tone ring to guarantee accurate readings.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical harness and the battery.
Calibration
After replacing the sensor, perform a transmission/clutch calibration procedure to clear the code and resolve harsh or jumpy clutch engagements.
