Massey Ferguson T4104 – Transmission Control Module (TRANS): Issue With Signal Voltage From Clutch Pedal Sensor DYNA VT (TRANS)

The signal voltage coming from the clutch pedal potentiometer (sensor X68) is outside of its expected operating range (either too high, too low, or short-circuited), meaning the controller cannot accurately determine the position of the clutch pedal.

   Inspect the clutch pedal assembly and the mechanical 'Clutch Pedal Sensor Fork' to see if it is bent, broken, or disconnected.

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the X68 sensor to the transmission module for rubbed wires, corrosion in the connector pins, or a short circuit to ground/power.

   Use a multimeter to measure the signal voltage from the sensor while slowly depressing the clutch pedal to ensure the voltage changes smoothly without dropouts or spikes.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the Sensor

   Locate the X68 clutch pedal sensor at the base of the clutch pedal assembly inside the cab console.

   Replace Faulty Components

   If the mechanical fork is damaged, unbolt it and install a new sensor fork. If the sensor failed the multimeter test, unplug the electrical connector, remove the mounting screws, and install the new clutch pedal sensor.

   Reassemble and Reconnect

   Reattach the linkage, plug the sensor back into the wiring harness, and reconnect the battery.

   Calibration

   After replacing the clutch pedal sensor, perform a clutch pedal calibration procedure via the tractor's instrument panel/diagnostic menu (often associated with code T41ED) so the transmission module learns the new sensor's minimum and maximum voltage values.

   Clear the T4104 fault code from the TRANS module and test drive the tractor to ensure smooth Dyna-VT transmission engagement.
