Massey Ferguson T41B0 – Transmission Controller (X174 - EXT Lite): Issue With Transmission Actuator Communication On CAN BUS DYNA VT (TRANS)
Issue description
The transmission controller is failing to establish or maintain communication with the transmission actuator over the machine's Controller Area Network (CAN) bus.

Check the cause
Check for related fault codes such as T41A2 (CAN network control interrupted), T41B1/T41B2 (Illogical range shift), or 61E T (Faulty programming)
Inspect the X174 EXT Lite transmission controller 96-pin connector for moisture, corrosion, backed-out pins, or physical damage
Test the CAN High and CAN Low lines between the transmission actuator and the X174 controller for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to power
Verify the CAN bus terminating resistors are intact (typically reading approximately 60 ohms across the network)
Verify the power supply and earth connections to the transmission controller, specifically circuit X176
Ensure the transmission oil is at the correct level and the high-pressure transmission oil filter is not blocked to rule out hydraulic starvation
Repair steps
Harness Repair
If diagnostic testing reveals a break or short in the CAN wiring harness between the actuator and the X174 EXT Lite controller, repair or replace the affected wiring segment.
Clean Connections
Disconnect the 96-pin connector at the X174 controller. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely reconnect it.
Software Flash / Reprogramming
If the wiring is intact, the X174 EXT Lite transmission controller may have suffered a software corruption. A dealer must connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to re-flash the EXT Lite controller and re-initialize the CAN network.
Component Replacement
If reprogramming fails or the module is unresponsive, replace the X174 EXT Lite transmission controller or the transmission actuator.
Calibration
After replacing the controller or actuator, a full transmission calibration must be performed using the AGCO EDT tool.
