Massey Ferguson T41B2 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU): Transmission Internal Software Issue / Faulty Solenoid Valve Ranges
Issue description
On Dyna-VT (CVT) transmissions, this code indicates faulty programming within the transmission controller. On Dyna-4 / Dyna-6 / Powershift transmissions, it indicates faulty solenoid valve ranges at high speed ('Rabbit').

Check the cause
Verify Transmission Type: Confirm whether the tractor has a Dyna-VT or a Dyna-4/6 transmission to ensure you are chasing the correct fault definition (Software vs. Solenoid).
Check System Voltage & CAN Bus: Verify battery voltage and inspect the wiring harness leading to the X174/X598 controllers. Voltage drops or CAN network interruptions can corrupt controller memory or cause communication drops.
Diagnostic Tool Connection: Connect the Massey Ferguson Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) or Wintest software to read the current software version on the EXT Lite controllers and check for accompanying internal memory faults (like RAM/EEPROM errors).
Repair steps
Connect diagnostic tool
For Dyna-VT Transmissions (Software Issue): Connect the AGCO/Massey Ferguson EDT (Electronic Diagnostic Tool) to the tractor's diagnostic port.
Navigate to module
Navigate to the Transmission EXT-Lite module.
Update software
Re-flash or update the software on the X174 (96-pin) and X598 (58-pin) controllers to the latest version provided by AGCO.
Calibrate transmission
Perform a transmission calibration procedure after the software update is complete.
Replace controller
If the controller refuses to accept the programming or immediately throws the code again, the controller has suffered an internal hardware failure and must be physically replaced, then programmed.
Locate solenoid bank
For Dyna-4/6 Transmissions (Solenoid Issue): Locate the transmission range solenoid bank on the side of the transmission.
Inspect wiring
Inspect the wiring and connector for the high-speed ('Rabbit') range solenoid valve.
Test and replace solenoid
Test the solenoid for proper resistance. If it is shorted, open, or mechanically stuck, replace the solenoid valve.
Parts you might need
(2)EXT Lite Transmission Controller (96-pin or 58-pin)
Varies heavily by specific chassis, cab suspension, and linkage configuration. Must be sourced via dealer using the tractor's serial number. Requires dealer programming (EDT) upon installation.
Transmission Range Solenoid Valve (High-Speed / Rabbit)
Applicable only if the tractor is a Dyna-4/6.
