Massey Ferguson T41D1 – Transmission Control Module (TCU): Calibration error
Issue description
The transmission calibration process has failed, was interrupted, or the transmission is currently out of calibration and requires a relearn procedure to ensure smooth shifting and clutch engagement.

Check the cause
Ensure the tractor is parked on completely flat ground.
Check the transmission oil level and ensure the oil quality is good (not polluted).
Verify the transmission oil temperature is between 35°C (95°F) and 45°C (113°F) via the Dash Control Center on diagnostic screen 1.
If the oil is cold, warm up the tractor through normal operation or by engaging the PTO. Activate the PowerShuttle 10 times in each direction for 5 to 10 seconds to warm up the control units and valves.
Ensure there are no other active fault codes (such as sensor faults or CAN bus errors), as these will block the calibration process.
Repair steps
Prepare tractor for calibration
With the tractor on flat ground and the transmission oil at the correct temperature (35°C - 45°C), place the tractor in neutral and release the park brake (some older models may require the handbrake to be applied; verify with your specific dash prompts).
Configure PowerShuttle settings
On the left-hand dash screen, configure all PowerShuttle progressivity settings (forward engagement, reverse engagement, and ratio shifting sensitivity) to "0".
Raise engine speed
Raise the engine speed to approximately 1500 RPM (± 100 RPM).
Initiate calibration mode
Raise the PowerShuttle arm to the "raised" position (left of the steering wheel) and hold it there while simultaneously pressing the differential lock switch.
Hold controls until "Ct" displays
Hold both for approximately 10 seconds until the right-hand transmission gear screen displays "Ct" (Calibration mode).
Begin calibration
Once "Ct" is displayed, place the PowerShuttle arm into the forward position to begin the calibration.
Wait for calibration to complete
The screen will continuously show "Ct" for about 10 minutes. It is normal to hear the transmission shifting and making noises during this automated process.
Verify completion screen
Once complete, the screen will display the last transmission ratio you were in (e.g., 1A/2A or 1E/2E).
Save the settings
Place the PowerShuttle into neutral, disengage the differential lock, idle the tractor down, and turn the engine off to confirm and save the changes.
Validate calibration
Restart the tractor and validate the calibration by driving forward and reverse to ensure the shuttle is smooth and no longer jerky.
