Massey Ferguson T41EB – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) / TRANS: Transmission Internal Software Issue DYNA VT (TRANS) / Range Position Sensor Fault
Issue description
Indicates an internal software or programming anomaly within the transmission controller, or a failure/out-of-tolerance signal from the transmission's range position sensor. The ECU will automatically force the transmission into 'limp home' mode to prevent mechanical damage.

Check the cause
Check for software updates using the Massey Ferguson EDT or Wintest software to verify the current software version of the EXT Lite transmission controller
Verify the sensor signal by monitoring live data from the transmission range position sensor for erratic voltage drops, out-of-range values, or a signal that does not change when shifted
Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the range position sensor for corrosion, moisture ingress, or chafing
Check for accompanying codes such as T41EE or T41EF, which would further confirm a software corruption issue
Repair steps
Save Diagnostic Data
Connect the EDT/Wintest software and save the error report. AGCO service bulletins mandate saving the error log before replacing transmission sensors.
Software Reflash
If the diagnostic tool indicates outdated or corrupted software, reflash the EXT Lite transmission controller with the latest OEM software update.
Replace the Sensor
If the software is up-to-date but the range position sensor is reading out of tolerance, locate the sensor on the side of the Dyna-VT transmission housing, disconnect the electrical harness, unbolt and remove the faulty sensor, and install the new sensor torqued to OEM specifications.
Recalibration
Whether you updated the software or replaced the sensor, you must perform a transmission calibration procedure using the EDT software so the controller can learn the new sensor's end-stops and parameters.
Clear Codes and Test
Clear the T41EB code from the TRANS module. Test drive the tractor through all speed ranges to ensure it shifts smoothly and does not revert to 'limp home' mode.
