T41F0

Massey Ferguson T41F0 – TRANS: Transmission Calibration Issue DYNA VT (TRANS)

Issue description

Transmission calibration is faulty, incomplete, or the transmission ratio has fallen outside the authorized operational range, causing harsh or jerky shuttle engagements and shifting.

Check the cause

  1. Transmission Oil Level & Quality: Ensure the transmission oil is not too low or polluted.

  2. Transmission Oil Pressure: Verify pressure is within spec. The indicator light will flash if pressure is greater than 510 bar (7397 psi) and stay permanently on if it drops below 6 bar (87 psi).

  3. Filter Blockage: Check the high-pressure transmission oil filter and auxiliary hydraulic oil filter for blockages.

  4. Sensor/Wiring Integrity: Check the transmission speed sensors and forward/reverse solenoid valves for proper voltage and continuity.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Position the tractor on flat ground.

  2. Warm-Up

The transmission oil temperature must be between 35°C (95°F) and 45°C (113°F). You can monitor this on the dash 'diagnostic screen 1'. Engaging the PTO can help warm the oil faster.

  3. Cycle the Shuttle

Activate the PowerShuttle (forward and reverse) 10 times in each direction for 5–10 seconds to warm up the control units and solenoid valves.

  4. Zero Settings

Configure the PowerShuttle progressivity settings (forward engagement, reverse engagement, and ratio shifting sensitivity) all to '0' on the left-hand dash screen.

  5. Initiate Calibration

Disengage the PTO, place the tractor in neutral, and release the park brake. Raise the engine speed to approximately 1500 RPM.

  6. Enter 'Ct' Mode

Raise the PowerShuttle arm to the raised position (left of the steering wheel) and hold it there while simultaneously pressing the differential lock switch. Hold both for about 10 seconds until the right-hand transmission gear screen displays 'Ct'.

  7. Run Calibration

Place the PowerShuttle arm into the forward position. The calibration will begin and takes approximately 10 minutes. It is normal to hear the transmission shifting and making noises during this time.

  8. Completion

Once finished, the screen will display the last transmission ratio you were in (e.g., '1A/2A' or '1E/2E').

  9. Save & Validate

Place the PowerShuttle into neutral, disengage the diff lock, idle the tractor down, and switch the engine off to save the new settings. Restart the tractor and test drive using various maneuvers to ensure smooth shifting.
