T41F2

Massey Ferguson T41F2 – TRANS (Transmission Control Module / TCU): Transmission Calibration Issue DYNA VT

Issue description

The transmission control system has detected an incomplete, failed, or out-of-range calibration sequence for the Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission (CVT). The system requires a successful calibration of the transmission components (such as the high/low speed ranges, coupler function, and pedal/lever sensors) to ensure smooth operation and correct power delivery.

Applies to these machines

  • 7614
  • 7615
  • 7616
  • 7618
  • 7619
  • 7620
  • 7622
  • 7624
  • 7626
  • Interim Tier 4 (2012-2015)
  • 7600 Series
  • 6700 S Series
  • 7400 Series
  • 8600 Series

Check the cause

  1. Check the transmission/hydraulic oil level and quality. Low oil levels or heavily polluted oil can prevent the transmission from building the necessary pressures to complete a calibration.

  2. Verify that the high-pressure transmission oil filter is not blocked. A blocked filter will restrict flow and fail the calibration.

  3. Ensure the tractor is brought up to normal operating temperature. Calibrations will often fail or abort if the transmission fluid is too cold.

  4. Check the 'Bottom of Clutch' switch in the pedal box, as well as the forward travel lever and throttle pedal sensors. A faulty clutch switch is a common failure point that can interrupt drive and calibration procedures.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Ensure the transmission fluid is at the correct operating temperature. Apply the parking brake.

  2. Access Calibration Mode

Via Instrument Panel: Navigate through the dash display to the calibration menu (often indicated by a 'Ct' or calibration icon on the right-hand screen). Via Diagnostic Tool: Connect a compatible diagnostic tool (e.g., AGCO EDT or Jaltest) to the tractor's diagnostic port and select the Transmission (Autotronic 4 / TRANS) module.

  3. Perform Sub-Calibrations

Follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the clutch pedal sensor, the forward-travel lever and armrest FingerTIP controls, the high/low speed ranges (Hare/Tortoise), and the Dyna-VT coupler function.

  4. Execute Main Transmission Calibration

Initiate the main Dyna-VT transmission calibration. You will likely be prompted to move the PowerShuttle lever into forward/reverse while the system automatically cycles through pressures and ratios.

  5. Save and Validate

Once the dash indicates the calibration is complete, return the shuttle to neutral, idle the tractor down, and turn the key off to save the settings. Restart the tractor and test drive it in both forward and reverse to ensure smooth engagement.

  6. Diagnose Repeated Failures

If the calibration repeatedly fails and throws the T41F2 code again, use a diagnostic tool to read the specific sub-code or live data to identify which solenoid, clutch pack, or sensor is failing the routine.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Bottom of Clutch Switch / Clutch Pedal Switch

Highly recommended to inspect/replace if calibration fails to initiate.

  • High-Pressure Transmission Filter

Replace if the filter blockage sensor is triggered.

  • Premium Hydraulic/Transmission Fluid
