Massey Ferguson T41F3 – TRANS: Transmission Calibration Issue DYNA VT (TRANS) / Transmission ratio limitation faulty
Issue description
This code indicates that the transmission control unit has detected an issue with the transmission calibration or ratio limitation. It typically means the transmission has lost its calibration parameters, the calibration was interrupted/failed, or the transmission components (like solenoid valves) are operating outside of their calibrated baseline.

Check the cause
Check the transmission oil level and ensure the oil is not heavily polluted. Low fluid will cause erratic shifting and calibration failures.
Check the high-pressure transmission oil filter and auxiliary hydraulic oil filters for blockages, as well as the blockage sensor.
Ensure the transmission is at normal operating temperature before calibration. Cold hydraulic fluid will skew the calibration results.
Ensure the differential lock and suspended front axle (4WD) are disengaged, as these will interfere with the calibration process.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on flat, level ground.
Warm-Up
Cycle the Power Shuttle lever several times before commencing. This brings the control unit and solenoid valves up to the ambient temperature of the transmission, preventing thermal imbalance.
Engine Speed
Set the engine speed to 1500 RPM (± 100 RPM) using the hand throttle or memorized speed.
Initiate Calibration Mode
Pull and hold the Power Shuttle arm in the raised position while simultaneously pressing the differential lock switch. Hold both for approximately 10 seconds until the right-hand instrument panel screen displays "Ct" (Calibration mode).
Start Calibration
Once "Ct" is displayed, move the Power Shuttle lever into the Forward position.
Wait
The calibration process is automated and takes approximately 10 minutes. The screen will continuously display "Ct". Note: It is completely normal to hear the transmission shifting gears and making hydraulic noises during this time.
Completion
When the calibration finishes successfully, the screen will stop displaying "Ct" and will show the current transmission ratio (e.g., "1A/2A" or "1E/2E").
Save Settings
To save the new calibration parameters, move the Power Shuttle lever back to the Neutral position, ensure the differential lock is disengaged, idle the tractor down, and turn the engine OFF.
Validation
Restart the tractor and test drive it. Perform various maneuvers (forward to reverse, neutral to forward, etc.) to ensure shifting is smooth. If the code returns, a physical component (like a forward/reverse solenoid) may be faulty and require replacement.
