Massey Ferguson T5132 – Transmission Controller (Autotronic 4 or EXT Lite): Incorrect automatic engagement signal

Triggers when the transmission controller receives an illogical, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the Auto 4WD engagement button. The system cannot verify whether the operator has requested the automatic 4-wheel-drive function to be on or off, which may cause the 4WD system to default to a safe state.

   Check for related codes such as T5131 or T5133 (if T5133 is present, the issue might be at the solenoid rather than the switch)

   Inspect the Auto 4WD button (Component X137) on the side pillar/armrest for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion

   Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test the continuity of the switch itself when toggled

   Trace the wiring harness from the X137 switch back to the transmission controller, looking for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or loose/corroded pins

   Power Down

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Switch

   Carefully pry up or unscrew the side pillar/armrest control panel trim to access the underside of the switch cluster.

   Disconnect the Switch

   Locate the Auto 4WD button (Component X137) and unplug its electrical connector.

   Replace or Repair

   If the switch failed the continuity test: Pop the old switch out of the bezel and snap the new OEM switch into place. If the wiring was faulty: Repair the damaged section of the harness using appropriate automotive-grade wire and heat-shrink tubing, or repin the connector if corrosion is found.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical plug to the switch, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall the side pillar trim.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the T5132 fault code. Start the tractor and toggle the Auto 4WD button to verify the system engages and disengages properly without throwing a code.
