Massey Ferguson T6101 – Transmission Controller (TRANS1): Rear PTO ON/OFF switch Signal error

The system specifically flags component X128 (the Rear PTO ON/OFF switch). This code is triggered when the controller detects an invalid, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the switch, preventing the rear Power Take-Off (PTO) from engaging safely.

   Visual Inspection: Inspect the X128 Rear PTO switch on the cab console for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing full travel.

   Wiring & Connector Check: Access the back of the switch and inspect the electrical connector. Look for loose pins, corrosion, or chafed wires on the harness leading to the TRANS1 module.

   Continuity Test: Use a multimeter to test the switch for proper continuity when toggled ON and OFF. If the switch does not show a clear open/closed circuit state, it has failed internally.

   Harness Test: If the switch tests fine, check the signal wire for an open circuit or a short-to-ground between the switch connector and the transmission controller.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the Switch

   Carefully pry up or unscrew the side console trim panel where the rear PTO switch (X128) is mounted.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the faulty PTO switch.

   Remove and Replace

   Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body to push it out of the console bezel. Snap the new OEM switch into place.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the wiring harness to the new switch and reinstall the console trim panel.

   Test and Clear

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on, clear the stored T6101 fault code via the tractor's diagnostic display, and test the rear PTO engagement to verify the issue is resolved.
