Check the cause

  1. Inspect the external PTO switch on the rear fender for physical damage, cracked rubber sealing boots, or sticking buttons.

  2. Disconnect the switch harness behind the fender and inspect the electrical connector for water ingress, corrosion, or broken pins, and check the wiring harness for chafing.

  3. Perform a continuity test on the switch using a multimeter (normally closed configuration). It should show continuity when at rest and break continuity when pressed.

  4. Verify the connections at the Input/Output Module (IOM) to ensure the switch signal is reaching the controller.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical arcing.

  2. Access the Switch

Locate the faulty PTO switch on the rear mudguard/fender.

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Reach behind the fender panel and unplug the electrical connector from the back of the switch.

  4. Remove the Switch

Remove the retaining nut or mounting clips securing the switch to the fender and pull the old switch out.

  5. Install the New Switch

Insert the replacement switch into the fender mounting hole. If using a new sealing rubber boot (highly recommended to prevent future moisture failure), install it now. Secure the switch with its retaining hardware.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the tractor's wiring harness connector into the new switch.

  7. Test

Reconnect the battery. Turn the tractor on and test the PTO engagement and disengagement from the fender switch to ensure proper operation. Verify that fault code T6102 has cleared from the dash/display.
