The transmission controller is receiving an invalid, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the Automatic Power Take-Off (PTO) engagement switch (X118).

   Physical Inspection: Check the Auto PTO button on the armrest or PTO/linkage console for sticking, mechanical failure, or heavy dirt ingress that could prevent the contacts from closing properly.

   Wiring & Connector Check: Inspect the wiring harness connecting the X118 switch to the TRANS1 controller. Look for chafed wires, shorts to ground, or shorts to power.

   Pin/Terminal Check: Disconnect the switch and inspect the electrical connector for loose pins, moisture, or corrosion (a common cause of signal errors in agricultural environments).

   Multimeter Testing: Use a multimeter to test the switch for continuity. Verify that the internal contacts open and close reliably when the button is toggled.

   Power down and disconnect battery

   Power down the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

   Locate the switch

   Locate the X118 Automatic PTO switch on the operator console or armrest.

   Remove the switch

   Carefully pry or unclip the switch panel or the switch itself from its mounting location.

   Disconnect the harness

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the faulty switch.

   Clean the connector

   Spray the harness connector with electrical contact cleaner to remove any dust or mild corrosion.

   Install the new switch

   Plug the existing wiring harness into the new replacement switch (no modifications are needed as it is a direct plug-and-play fit). Snap the new switch back into the console mounting hole.

   Test and clear codes

   Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor, clear the inactive fault codes via the dash or diagnostic tool, and test the Auto PTO function to confirm the repair.
