Massey Ferguson T611C – Transmission Control Module (TRANS1): Issue With Voltage To 1000 PTO Speed Solenoid
Issue description
An electrical fault (such as an open circuit, short circuit, or out-of-range voltage) has been detected in the circuit that controls the X4 solenoid valve, which is responsible for shifting the hydraulic system to engage the 1000 RPM PTO. When this code is active, the tractor may be unable to engage the 1000 RPM PTO or might be locked out of PTO operations entirely.

Check the cause
Perform a visual wiring inspection of the harness leading to the X4 solenoid on the transmission/PTO valve block for rubbed-through wires, broken lines, or rodent damage.
Disconnect the electrical plug at the solenoid and check for water ingress, dirt, or corroded pins.
Perform a coil resistance test using a multimeter across the solenoid coil pins to check for an open reading or dead short.
Perform a voltage supply test with the tractor key ON and the 1000 RPM PTO switch engaged to ensure the TRANS1 module is sending the command voltage.
Repair steps
Safety & Prep
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and remove the key. Ensure the PTO is fully disengaged and all moving parts have stopped.
Depressurize the System
Relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the transmission/PTO circuit before removing the valve.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the exterior of the PTO valve block around the X4 solenoid to prevent dirt or grease from contaminating the hydraulic system when the valve is removed.
Removal
Disconnect the electrical harness from the solenoid. Unbolt or unscrew the solenoid cartridge from the transmission housing.
Installation
Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve with clean hydraulic oil. Thread the new valve into the mounting point and tighten to OEM torque specifications.
Reconnection & Testing
Reconnect the electrical harness. Start the tractor, check for hydraulic leaks around the new valve, and test the 1000 RPM PTO engagement via the cab switch to ensure the T611C code clears and the PTO operates correctly.
