T6145

Massey Ferguson T6145 – TRANS1: Issue With Values Received From Rear PTO Speed Sensors Dyna VT (TRANS1)

Issue description

Triggered by the X15 PTO clutch speed sensor. Indicates clutch separation failure, clutch slippage, or a speed/voltage error.

Check the cause

  1. Test the supply voltage to the X15 PTO clutch speed sensor and inspect the wiring harness and connector for corrosion, chafing, or a short circuit.

  2. Monitor the engine speed versus the PTO clutch speed via a diagnostic tool to check for mechanical slippage (a variance of >20% when fully engaged indicates slippage).

  3. With the PTO in NEUTRAL, verify if the PTO shaft is still spinning to check if the PTO brake is failing to engage or the clutch plates are warped/fused.

Repair steps

  1. Address Electrical Faults First

If the diagnostic checks reveal a voltage error at the X15 sensor, repair the wiring harness or replace the X15 PTO clutch speed sensor.

  2. Access the PTO Clutch Assembly

If the sensor and wiring are functioning correctly, the issue is mechanical (slippage or failure to separate). Drain the transmission/hydraulic fluid and access the rear PTO clutch pack.

  3. Inspect and Replace Clutch Components

Disassemble the PTO clutch. Inspect the clutch discs for burning, excessive wear, or warping. Replace the PTO clutch disc pack if slippage is confirmed.

  4. Inspect the PTO Brake

Check the PTO brake mechanism to ensure it is capable of stopping the shaft when NEUTRAL is selected. Replace worn brake components.

  5. Reassemble and Calibrate

Reassemble the PTO unit, refill the transmission fluid to the proper capacity, and clear the T6145 fault code from the TRANS1 module. Test the PTO under load to ensure the X15 sensor readings align with engine speed.
