T6157

Massey Ferguson T6157 – PTO / Linkage Console (Component X145): Malfunction of the ECO speed range switch on the PTO control unit

Issue description

The system logs this code when the ECO speed range switch (component X145) is detected as being pressed down for over 30 seconds, pointing to either a mechanical failure (stuck switch) or an electrical error (short circuit).

Applies to these machines

  • 8600 Series
  • 7600 Series
  • Dyna-4
  • Dyna-6
  • Dyna-VT

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the ECO speed range switch on the PTO/linkage console for sticky residue, dirt, or debris that might be physically wedging the button down. Press it to see if it springs back freely.

  2. Access the back of the X145 PTO/linkage console and inspect the wiring harness and connector for the ECO switch. Look for pinched wires, chafing, or melted insulation causing a short to ground.

  3. Disconnect the switch from the harness and use a multimeter to test continuity. If it shows a closed circuit when the button is not pressed, the switch has failed internally.

  4. With the switch disconnected, turn the tractor's key to the ON position. If the fault code changes or disappears, the fault is isolated to the switch. If T6157 remains active, there is a short in the wiring harness.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Access the Console

Carefully pry up or unscrew the retaining hardware for the right-hand armrest or side console trim where the X145 PTO/linkage controls are housed.

  3. Disconnect the Switch

Locate the ECO speed range switch from the underside of the panel and unplug its electrical connector.

  4. Remove the Faulty Switch

Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body (or remove the retaining collar, depending on the exact cab trim) and push the switch up and out of the console bezel.

  5. Install the New Switch

Snap the replacement ECO speed range switch into the console bezel until it seats firmly.

  6. Reassemble

Plug the electrical connector back into the switch. Reinstall the console paneling and secure all hardware.

  7. Test

Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor and verify that the T6157 code has cleared from the instrument cluster. Test the PTO ECO speed engagement to ensure proper operation.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • PTO ECO Speed Range Switch / PTO Linkage Console Switch (Component X145)

Specific OEM part numbers are not published; source via dealer using VIN/Serial Number. If integrated into a sealed membrane panel, the entire X145 PTO/Linkage Console Module may need replacement.
