V113

Massey Ferguson V113 – Dash and the Mid Mount Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Issue description

Triggered when the tractor's onboard diagnostic system detects a malfunction, connection problem, or calibration failure on the first external remote hydraulic valve. The underlying condition is typically related to an incorrect or missing value from the spool position sensor, preventing the system from accurately determining or controlling the position of the hydraulic spool.

Check the cause

  1. Check Fluid and Filters: Inspect the hydraulic and transmission oil levels. Dirty oil or a blocked hydraulic/transmission filter is a primary cause of restricted flow, which can trigger valve performance faults.

  2. Inspect Couplers and Hoses: Check the external hydraulic couplers for damage, blockages, or worn hoses that might cause a pressure drop (weak or slow hydraulics).

  3. Electrical Connection Check: Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the External Hydraulic Valve 1 solenoid and spool position sensor. Look for corrosion, broken wires, or loose pins.

  4. Valve Calibration: Use a compatible diagnostic tool (such as the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool) to attempt a recalibration of the hydraulic valves. A loss of calibration can often throw spool position sensor codes.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve all residual pressure in the hydraulic system.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around the external hydraulic valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

  3. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the wiring harness from the External Hydraulic Valve 1 solenoid and spool position sensor.

  4. Remove the Valve Spool

Unbolt the retaining screws securing the solenoid valve spool to the main hydraulic lift cover/valve block.

  5. Extract and Inspect

Carefully pull the spool assembly out. Inspect the internal bore for deep scoring or metal debris (which would indicate pump wear or severe contamination).

  6. Install the New Part

Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve spool with clean hydraulic fluid. Insert it into the valve block and torque the retaining bolts to OEM specifications.

  7. Reassemble and Refill

Reconnect the electrical harness. Top off the hydraulic fluid to replace any lost during the repair.

  8. Calibrate and Clear Codes

Connect your diagnostic tool, clear the V113 fault code, and perform a mandatory hydraulic valve calibration so the ECU can learn the new spool position sensor values.

  9. Test

Run the tractor and test the remote hydraulics with an implement to ensure there are no leaks and that the response is no longer slow, weak, or dead.
