V143

Massey Ferguson V143 – Dash / Mid Mount Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction within the circuit of the first external hydraulic remote (spool valve). The underlying condition is typically related to a connection problem on the hydraulic valve, an issue with the spool position sensor value, an incorrect signal voltage, or a failure of the 12V solenoid valve that actuates the hydraulics.

Check the cause

  1. Use a compatible diagnostic tool or interface device to retrieve the DTCs and confirm V143 is active

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at External Hydraulic Valve 1 for physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections (primary cause)

  3. Check the spool position sensor value and verify the signal voltage at the valve

  4. Verify that there is no communication loss between the Dash and the Mid Mount Valve Module

  5. Test the 12V solenoid valve for proper electrical resistance (OEM solenoids for this application typically read around 10 OHMs)

Repair steps

  1. Safely park the tractor, turn off the engine, and relieve all hydraulic system pressure.

  2. Locate External Hydraulic Valve 1.

Usually situated at the rear remote block or mid-mount valve assembly.

  3. Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the valve's solenoid/sensor.

  4. Repair the harness or connector if diagnostic checks pointed to a wiring failure, or proceed to replacement if the solenoid valve itself failed the resistance/voltage test.

  5. Unbolt and remove the faulty 12V solenoid valve/electrovalve from the hydraulic block.

  6. Clean the mounting surface.

Ensure no debris enters the hydraulic system.

  7. Install the new solenoid valve and tighten the retaining hardware.

    Ensure new O-rings/seals are used.

  8. Reconnect the electrical harness to the new valve.

  9. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the V143 fault code from the system.

  10. Start the tractor and test the External Hydraulic Valve 1 remote for proper operation and check for leaks.
