V214

Massey Ferguson V214 – Dash / Mid Mount Valve Module / Tractor Implement/Hydraulic ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction within the circuit of the second external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). The underlying condition is typically an electrical fault (such as a failing solenoid, damaged wiring, or a faulty spool position sensor) or a mechanical issue (such as a sticking spool or internal fluid bypass) preventing the valve from operating correctly.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid level using the dipstick or sight glass and ensure the hydraulic filters are not clogged or overdue for service.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector leading to External Hydraulic Valve 2. Look for frayed wires, corrosion, or loose pins that could cause an open or short circuit.

  3. Check the spool position sensor values and test the valve's solenoid for proper resistance.

  4. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic interface to read the live data from Valve 2. Attempt to clear the DTC to determine if the fault is active or intermittent.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all attached implements to the ground, and turn off the engine. Cycle the hydraulic remote levers to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Locate the Valve

Identify External Hydraulic Valve 2 on the rear hydraulic remote stack or the mid-mount valve block.

  3. Disconnect Electricals

Carefully unplug the electrical harness connector from the valve's solenoid and spool position sensor.

  4. Remove Hydraulic Lines

Disconnect the hydraulic hoses/lines attached to the valve. Immediately cap or plug the lines and fittings to prevent fluid loss and keep dirt out of the hydraulic system.

  5. Unbolt the Valve

Remove the mounting bolts securing the valve to the hydraulic manifold or lift cover and carefully remove the valve assembly.

  6. Clean and Prep

Clean the mounting surface on the manifold. If rebuilding the valve, replace all internal O-rings, gaskets, and seals. If replacing the unit, prepare the new valve.

  7. Installation

Install the new or rebuilt External Hydraulic Valve 2 using new mounting O-rings. Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

  8. Reassembly

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and plug in the electrical connector.

  9. Fluid and Testing

Top off the hydraulic fluid if any was lost. Start the tractor, operate the Valve 2 remote to bleed any trapped air, check for leaks, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the V214 code.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • External Hydraulic Valve Assembly (Spool Valve) / Hydraulic Remote Valve Kit

Specific OEM part numbers are highly dependent on the exact tractor configuration. Provide the dealer with the tractor's serial number to ensure the correct electronic spool valve is supplied.

  • Hydraulic Valve O-Ring / Seal Kit

Required whenever the valve is removed or rebuilt.
