V313

Massey Ferguson V313 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) / Mid Mount Valve Module / Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction in the third external hydraulic remote spool valve circuit, typically due to an electrical or sensor-related condition (such as a solenoid current level error, open circuit, short circuit, or spool position sensor issue). It can manifest physically as slow, weak, or completely dead remote hydraulics due to restricted oil flow or pressure loss.

Check the cause

  1. Check the wiring harness, fuses, and electrical connectors leading to the #3 solenoid valve for damaged wires that could cause an open circuit or a short to earth.

  2. Inspect the hydraulic/transmission fluid (UTTO) for contamination, dirt, or metal shavings. A blocked hydraulic or transmission filter is a primary cause of restricted flow.

  3. Check the external hydraulic couplers for blockages, damage, or faulty connections that might restrict oil flow.

  4. Verify the spool position sensor value using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to ensure the module is reading the valve's physical position correctly.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Ensure the tractor is turned off and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system.

  2. Drain Fluid

Drain the hydraulic reservoir fluid. Have a large bucket ready, as this process can be messy. Alternatively, isolate the valve block if your system allows.

  3. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the wiring harness from the #3 external hydraulic valve solenoid and position sensor.

  4. Remove the Valve

Disconnect the hydraulic hoses/lines from the valve. Unbolt and remove the spool valve assembly from the tractor.

  5. Rebuild or Replace

Using an OEM repair kit, replace the internal O-rings, seals, and the faulty solenoid/sensor. If the valve body is heavily worn or sticking, replace the entire spool valve unit.

  6. Reinstall

Mount the rebuilt or new valve, reconnect the hydraulic lines, and plug in the electrical harness.

  7. Fluid & Filter Service

Install a new hydraulic filter and refill the system with fresh OEM UTTO fluid (e.g., 10W40).

  8. Test & Clear Codes

Start the tractor, test the #3 remote for proper operation and leaks, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the V313 DTC from the Dash/TCU.
