V411

Massey Ferguson V411 – Hydraulic/Implement Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a fault or connection problem on a hydraulic valve, specifically 'External Hydraulic Valve 4'. The onboard diagnostic system generates these codes when it detects an electrical connection issue, an open circuit, or a mechanical failure preventing the valve from operating correctly.

Check the cause

  1. Retrieve specific alphanumeric codes (e.g., 0A.40.18 or 0A.41.FF) using a compatible diagnostic tool to confirm the exact nature of the fault

  2. Inspect the wiring harness, pins, and connectors leading to External Hydraulic Valve 4 for corrosion, loose fittings, or broken wires

  3. Check if the valve can be actuated manually or if the spool is physically stuck

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Access the Valve Block

Locate the external hydraulic valve block at the rear of the tractor. Identify Valve 4.

  3. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic check revealed a connection problem, clean the connector pins with contact cleaner and replace any damaged wiring harnesses.

  4. Replace the Valve (if necessary)

If the electrical connections are sound but the valve fails to respond, the solenoid or the valve itself is faulty. Unbolt the hydraulic lines (have a catch pan ready for hydraulic fluid), remove the mounting bolts, and swap in the replacement valve.

  5. Reassemble and Bleed

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical connectors. Top off the hydraulic fluid if any was lost.

  6. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery, turn on the tractor, and use the diagnostic tool to clear the DTCs. Test the hydraulic remote to ensure proper operation.
