Yale 522125-8 – TCU: Transmission Range1 Valve Current Out Of Range (TCU)

The controller has detected that the electrical current flowing to the Range 1 transmission valve coil is outside of the expected operating parameters.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the TCU and the Transmission Range 1 Valve for high resistance connections, loose pins, or damaged wires

   Use a multimeter to verify that the valve's negative circuit (-VE) is not shorted to the battery negative or the chassis/frame ground

   Measure the resistance of the Range 1 valve coil to check for an open circuit

   If wiring is intact, no shorts are found, and the valve coil tests within specification, suspect a functional failure within the TCU

   Tag and Secure the Machine

   Fasten a "DO NOT OPERATE" tag to the controls and disconnect the battery before beginning repairs.

   Locate the Valve

   Locate the transmission control valve assembly. On many Yale models (like the GDP40VX), it is located on the right side of the transmission, directly below the floor plate.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed an open circuit or a short to ground in the wiring harness, repair or replace the affected wiring segment and connector pins.

   Replace the Valve/Coil (If Applicable)

   If the Range 1 valve coil tested as an open circuit, remove the retaining hardware for the specific solenoid/valve on the transmission control valve block and install a new OEM replacement.

   Replace the TCU (If Applicable)

   If all physical circuits and coils are verified good, replace the Transmission Control Unit, as it has suffered an internal functional failure.

   Reassemble and Test

   Reconnect the battery, clear the fault codes from the system, and operate the forklift through its transmission ranges to ensure the code does not return.
