Yale 522606-10 – Engine Control Module (ECM) or Vehicle System Manager (VSM): Post Catalytic Converter Oxygen (O2) Sensor (Slow Response)
Issue description
The fault code indicates that the oxygen sensor located after the catalytic converter is responding too slowly to changes in the exhaust gas oxygen content. The system flags this when the sensor's voltage transition time exceeds the programmed threshold.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- Yale and Hyster Forklifts
- Yale and Hyster forklifts (2005 and newer models)
- Yale GLP030VX
- Yale GLP060VX
- Yale GLC040
- Hyster Fortis series (H40FT-H120FT, S40FT-S120FT)
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the post-catalytic O2 sensor for melting, fraying, or corrosion.
Check for exhaust leaks upstream of or immediately near the post-cat O2 sensor.
Look for O2 sensor heater circuit codes (such as 522608-5 or 522608-6).
If the wiring is intact and the sensor is replaced but the code persists, the ECM must be tested for a functional failure.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the forklift on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery. Allow the exhaust system to cool completely to avoid burns.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the post-catalytic converter oxygen sensor on the exhaust pipe (downstream of the catalytic converter).
Disconnect Wiring
Unplug the electrical connector for the O2 sensor from the main engine harness.
Remove the Sensor
Using a 22mm (7/8") O2 sensor socket or wrench, carefully unthread the faulty oxygen sensor from the exhaust bung.
Install the New Sensor
Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new sensor (if not pre-applied from the factory). Thread it in by hand to prevent cross-threading, then tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque.
Reconnect
Plug the sensor's electrical connector back into the harness, ensuring it clicks securely into place. Route the wire away from extreme heat sources.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic handset or the onboard dash display to clear the 522606-10 fault code.
Test Run
Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Verify that the check engine light remains off and the code does not return.
