Yale 522711-3 – Vehicle System Manager (VSM) or Engine Control Unit (ECU): Throttle B Position Sensor OORH

The signal voltage coming from the Throttle B Position Sensor is higher than the expected operating range (Out Of Range High). This can be caused by a sensor ground open circuit, the sensor signal shorted to the sensor supply voltage or battery source, an internal sensor failure, or a functional failure in the controller.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the Throttle Position Sensor for an open ground wire or a signal wire shorted to the supply voltage or battery.

   Use a multimeter to test the Throttle B sensor output signals against OEM specifications, verifying that the voltage smoothly transitions as the throttle is actuated without spiking out of range.

   Verify the sensor input voltages at the controller/ECU pins to rule out a break in the harness between the sensor and the module.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the forklift and disconnect the battery before servicing electrical components.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks reveal an open ground circuit or a short to the battery/supply voltage in the harness, repair the damaged wiring or replace the connector.

   Replace Sensor

   If the wiring tests normal but the sensor output signal remains out of range high (indicating an internal sensor failure), remove and replace the Throttle Position Sensor.

   Replace/Reprogram Controller

   If both the wiring harness and the new sensor test normal but the fault persists, the controller (VSM/ECU) has a functional failure and must be replaced.

   Clear Codes & Calibrate

   Reconnect the battery. Access the dash display (using the 5-digit company or dealer password) to clear the error codes. Perform any necessary sensor calibration procedures per the manufacturer's instructions.

   Test Operation

   Operate the throttle to ensure smooth acceleration and verify the code does not return.
