Yale 522711-4 – VSM (Vehicle System Manager) or Engine ECU / GCU: Throttle B Position Sensor OORL (Out of Range Low)
Issue description
The signal voltage from the Throttle B Position Sensor has dropped below the acceptable minimum threshold. This is typically caused by a sensor signal open circuit, sensor supply open circuit, sensor signal shorted to frame ground, sensor signal shorted to sensor ground, internal sensor failure, or a functional failure in the controller.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- Yale and Hyster Forklifts
- Yale VX Series (e.g., GDP030-155VX, GLP030-155VX, GLC020-155VX, GLP050LX)
- Hyster FT Series (e.g., H30-155FT, S30-155FT)
Check the cause
Power Cycle: Turn the forklift power OFF for no less than 30 seconds, then turn it back ON to see if the code clears.
Visual Inspection: Inspect all connectors and the wiring harness associated with the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) / Accelerator Pedal. Look for damaged wires, loose pins, or corrosion.
Circuit Testing: Use a multimeter to test the sensor supply and signal circuits. Check for an open circuit in the sensor signal or supply wires, and check for a short to the frame ground or sensor ground.
Controller Input Test: Test the controller sensor input circuits to ensure the VSM/ECU is properly receiving and processing the voltage signal.
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.
Locate sensor
Locate the Throttle Position Sensor / Accelerator Pedal assembly.
Repair wiring
Disconnect the sensor harness and repair any damaged wiring, open circuits, or shorts to ground found during the diagnostic phase.
Test machine
Reconnect the harness and test the machine. If the wiring is intact but the code persists, the sensor has failed internally.
Replace sensor
Remove the defective Throttle Position Sensor and install the replacement part.
Verify repair
Reconnect the battery, turn the machine on, and verify that the fault code has cleared and the throttle responds correctly.
Replace or reflash controller
If replacing the sensor and repairing the wiring does not resolve the issue, the controller (VSM/ECU) has a functional failure and must be replaced or reflashed by a dealer.
Parts you might need
(1)Hall Throttle Position Sensor / Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor
580043866Interchangeable with Hyster 2063842 / 5800438-66. Fits a wide range of Yale VX and Hyster FT series forklifts. Note that on some models, this sensor is integrated into the electronic throttle assembly or the accelerator pedal assembly, so verify your specific serial number before ordering.
