Yale 522713-4 – VSM (Vehicle System Manager): Accelerator B Position Sensor OORL (Out of Range Low)

This code indicates that the signal voltage from the Accelerator B Position Sensor has dropped below the expected minimum threshold. This is typically caused by a sensor supply open circuit (+5 Volts), sensor signal B open circuit, sensor signal shorted to frame ground or sensor ground, internal failure of the sensor, or a functional failure in the controller. When active, the forklift will typically disable acceleration, may disable transmission braking, and triggers a warning alarm.

   Check the wiring harness and connector plugs at the accelerator pedal for loose, broken, or corroded pins.

   Back-probe the sensor connector with the key switch ON to verify the +5 VDC reference power supply and ground circuit are intact.

   Perform a signal sweep test by monitoring the signal wire voltage (should read approximately 0.6V released and smoothly scale to approximately 4.2V fully depressed).

   Inspect the physical pedal assembly, specifically the pedal shaft and bushings, for excessive wear that could side-load the sensor.

   Check the VSM/controller sensor inputs to verify the controller is processing the signal if wiring and sensor test normal.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the forklift and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Pedal Assembly

   Locate the accelerator pedal assembly on the floorboard. You may need to remove the floor plate for better access.

   Repair Wiring

   If diagnostics revealed an open circuit or a short to ground in the harness, repair the damaged wire or replace the affected harness section.

   Remove the Sensor

   Disconnect the wiring harness plug from the accelerator position sensor. Remove the mounting screws securing the sensor to the pedal bracket.

   Replace Worn Hardware

   If the pedal shaft or bushings are worn, replace them now to prevent the new sensor from failing prematurely.

   Install the New Sensor

   Mount the new Hall effect throttle position sensor and tighten the screws. Reconnect the wiring harness plug securely.

   Reinstall the floor plate, reconnect the battery, and turn the key switch ON.
