Yale 522762-4 – Power Distribution Module (PDM) or Vehicle System Manager (VSM) / Vehicle System Controller (VSC): Switched Battery Voltage 3 (IGN 3) OORL

The system is detecting that the Switched Battery (IGN 3) voltage supply is measuring below the allowable threshold (voltage is too low or open).

   Check IGN 1 or IGN 3 voltage output for an open supply

   Check IGN 2 voltage output for a short to ground

3. 3

   Check IGN 1 or IGN 3 output for a short to ground

4. 4

   Check for a functional failure in the controller (PDM/VSM)

   Turn the forklift power OFF for no less than 30 seconds.

   Locate the 5-amp VSW fuse (or the specific IGN fuse for your model). Switch a digital multimeter to the DC voltage scale.

   Check the Fuses

   Turn the forklift ON. Measure the voltage on both sides of the fuse and ground. The voltage should be approximately equal to the battery VDC.

   If the voltage is low or zero, turn the truck OFF. Switch the multimeter to the ohms scale and check for a short to ground or to the vehicle frame between the fuse and the connection.

   Inspect for Shorts/Opens

   If a short or open circuit is found, locate and repair/replace the damaged wire harness connection. Replace the fuse with a part of the appropriate rating if it is blown.

   Refer to the Power Distribution Module mini-schematic. Check for any open circuits or shorts to ground/vehicle frame in all connected battery circuits.

   Check the PDM

   If all wiring, fuses, and harness connections test perfectly, the issue is a functional failure in the controller. Ensure all connections to the controller are properly seated. If the code persists, the PDM or VSM must be replaced.
