Yale 523780-3 – VSM (Vehicle System Manager): Park Brake Position Sensor OORH (Out of Range High)
Issue description
This code indicates that the voltage signal coming from the park brake position sensor is higher than the maximum expected threshold. This underlying condition is usually caused by the sensor signal wire being shorted to the battery/power supply, an open circuit in the sensor ground, a failed sensor, or a functional failure within the controller's input circuit.

Check the cause
Power Cycle: Turn the forklift's ignition OFF for at least 30 seconds, then turn it back ON to see if the code clears or returns immediately.
Mechanical Verification: Verify that the park brake mechanism is physically moving the sensor when the brake pedal/lever is applied and released.
Wiring & Connector Inspection: Conduct a visual inspection of the wiring harness and the 3-way connector at the park brake position sensor. Look for damaged wires, corrosion, or loose pins.
Voltage/Continuity Testing: Use a multimeter to check for an open circuit on the sensor ground wire.

Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the battery (for electric trucks) or the battery ground cable (for internal combustion trucks) before performing any electrical repairs.
Access the Sensor
Locate the park brake position sensor, which is mounted near the parking brake lever or pedal assembly.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If your multimeter tests in the diagnostic phase revealed an open ground or a short to power in the harness, repair or replace the affected section of the wiring harness.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring harness and VSM supply voltages test good, the sensor itself has failed internally. Remove the mounting hardware, remove the old sensor, and install the new park brake position sensor.
Reconnect and Test
Reconnect the sensor's 3-way connector. Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition ON, and operate the park brake. Verify that fault code 523780-3 has cleared.
VSM Replacement (Worst Case)
If the sensor and wiring are both perfectly functional but the code persists, the VSM has a functional failure on that specific input circuit and will need to be replaced and reprogrammed by a dealer.
