Yale 524195-3 – VSM (Vehicle System Manager): Yanmar Cold Start Relay Driver Output OORH (Out Of Range High)
Issue description
This code indicates that the output driver circuit for the cold start (glow plug) relay is experiencing a high voltage condition or an open circuit. The system has detected that the voltage is 'Out of Range High.'
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Yale and Hyster Forklifts
- Yale and Hyster forklifts (2005 and newer models)
- Yale VX series
- GC050VX
- GC135VX
Check the cause
Perform an operational reset check by turning the truck power OFF for at least 30 seconds, then back ON to see if the DTC reoccurs.
Measure the resistance of the device driver wire between the cold start relay connector and the VSM connector (should be less than 0.5 ohms).
Inspect the wiring harness between the relay and the VSM for any shorts to battery voltage.
Test the cold start relay coil for internal failure, such as internal shorts or an open coil.
Repair steps
Repair Wiring
If the DMM tests reveal an open circuit (resistance > 0.5 ohms) or a short to battery voltage in the harness between the VSM and the relay, repair or replace the affected wiring harness section.
Replace the Relay
If the wiring harness tests good but the relay coil is found to be defective (e.g., internal short causing a controller overload or an open coil), replace the cold start relay.
Replace the Controller
If the wiring is intact and the relay is functioning correctly, the fault is a functional failure within the VSM's output driver circuitry. You will need to replace and program a new Vehicle System Manager (VSM).
Parts you might need
(3)Yanmar Cold Start Relay (Glow Plug Relay)
Check the Yanmar engine parts catalog for the specific engine displacement (e.g., 2.6L, 3.3L).
Vehicle System Manager (VSM)
Must be ordered to the specific truck serial number as it requires OEM software flashing.
Wiring Harness / Connectors
As needed based on diagnostic results.
