Yale 524208-2 – DSC (Display Switch Cluster): DSC Fault - Front Worklight Button Stuck
Issue description
The button controlling the front worklights/headlights on the display panel is continuously registering as being pressed or is physically jammed.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- Yale and Hyster Forklifts
- Yale Veracitor VX Series (GLC, GLP, GDP)
- Yale Electric Rider Series (ERP, ERC)
- Hyster Fortis FT Series
Check the cause
Inspect the front worklight button (button #3 on the right side of the display) for physical damage, sticky residue, or debris wedged around the button membrane.
Press the button to perform a tactile check, ensuring it springs back and the membrane does not feel collapsed or damaged.
Perform a power cycle/hard reset by disconnecting the battery ground wire, waiting a few minutes, and reconnecting it to see if the fault clears.
Disconnect the wiring harness at the back of the DSC, inspect the pins for corrosion or moisture, and reconnect it.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the battery ground wire.
Lower the Steering Column
Lift up on the steering wheel slightly, pull up on the tilt lever, and push the steering column all the way down to its lowest position.
Remove the Cover
Remove the upper steering column cover by pressing the latch clips (one on either side) and pulling the cover away from the steering column.
Remove the Bezel/DSC
Insert a small, flat-bladed screwdriver into the top and bottom slots on the inner edge of the bezel to pry it outward. Remove the Torx screws (usually T-15) holding the assembly in place.
Disconnect
Slide the DSC out and disconnect the wiring harness from the back.
Install the New DSC
Plug the wiring harness into the new Display Switch Cluster, slide it into place, and secure it with the Torx screws. Snap the bezel and steering column cover back into place.
Software Programming
Reconnect the battery. Use the Yale PC Service Tool software to perform a data transfer sequence (transferring the CDF file and hour meter data from the VSM to the new DSC).
Parts you might need
(1)Display Switch Cluster (DSC) / Display Panel Bezel and Overlay
Varies heavily by specific forklift model, mast configuration, and ignition type. Because the DSC is a programmable module, buying a used DSC from another truck is not recommended unless you have the PC Service Tool to overwrite the previous truck's data.
