524209-2

Yale 524209-2 – Display Switch Cluster (DSC) / Vehicle System Manager (VSM): DSC Fault - Hourmeter Button Stuck

Issue description

The Hourmeter button on the forklift's dashboard display is either physically jammed, internally shorted, or has suffered a mechanical button failure. The system detects that the button's circuit is continuously closed (stuck in the pressed position).

Applies to these machines

  • Yale and Hyster Forklifts
  • Yale Veracitor VX Series (GC/GLC/GLP/GDP 030-155VX)
  • Yale ERC / ERP Electric Series
  • Yale LX Series (GLC050LX)
  • Hyster Fortis (FT) models

Check the cause

  1. Visual & Tactile Inspection: Inspect the Hourmeter button on the right side of the display panel. Check for sticky residue, dirt, or physical damage holding the button down. Press it repeatedly to see if it clicks and returns freely.

  2. Power Cycle: Turn the forklift off, disconnect the battery momentarily, and turn it back on to see if the code is a temporary glitch or a hard fault.

  3. Check for Related Codes: Look for other DSC codes (e.g., 524255-3 DSC Overheated, or other 'Button Stuck' codes like 523767-2). Multiple button failures or temperature codes usually indicate liquid intrusion or a completely failed internal circuit board.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

    Disconnect the battery ground wire.

  2. Lower Steering Column

Lift up on the steering wheel slightly, pull up on the tilt lever, and fully lower the steering column to its lowest position.

  3. Remove Column Cover

Remove the upper steering column cover by pressing the latch clips (one on either side) and pulling the cover away from the steering column.

  4. Remove the DSC Bezel

Insert a small, flat-bladed screwdriver into the top slot on the inner edge of the display bezel and gently pry outward. Repeat this procedure at the lower slot to release the bezel and overlay.

  5. Disconnect and Remove

Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the Display Switch Cluster and remove the unit.

  6. Install New DSC

Plug the harness into the new DSC, snap the bezel back into place, reinstall the steering column cover, and reconnect the battery.

  7. Programming Note

Depending on the forklift's configuration, a blank replacement DSC may require a data transfer from the VSM or calibration using the Yale PC Service Tool software.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Display Switch Cluster (DSC) Assembly / Dash Display

Varies strictly by forklift serial number and options. Do not attempt to open the DSC to replace the individual button; it is a sealed, non-serviceable unit.
