Yale 524224-0 – VSM (Vehicle System Manager) or Transmission Control Unit: XMSN Forward 2 Pressure Greater Than Commanded Pressure

The transmission control system is detecting hydraulic pressure in the Forward 2nd gear clutch circuit that is higher than what the controller is currently commanding.

   Power cycle the forklift (OFF for at least 30 seconds, then ON) and operate in forward and reverse to verify if and when the code reoccurs.

   Verify the transmission oil level and condition.

   Visually inspect all connectors and wiring associated with the Forward 2 pressure transducer for damage, corrosion, or an open circuit on the sensor supply line.

   Swap the Forward 2 pressure transducer with another accessible pressure transducer on the transmission block to see if the fault code changes, which isolates the sensor as the culprit.

   Repair Wiring

   If the visual inspection reveals an open circuit or damaged connector at the Forward 2 pressure sensor, repair the wiring harness or splice in a new connector pigtail.

   Replace the Pressure Transducer

   If the wiring is intact but the sensor is proven to be faulty, remove the defective Forward 2 pressure transducer from the transmission control valve block and install a new one. Clear the codes and test drive.

   Address Mechanical Failures

   If the sensor and wiring are confirmed to be in good working order, remove and inspect the transmission control valve assembly for a stuck Forward 2 solenoid or debris. If the control valve is functioning properly, the transmission may require an internal rebuild.
