Yale 524240-4 – VSM (Vehicle System Manager): Washer Pump Drive Command OORL (Out Of Range Low)

This fault code indicates a problem within the windshield washer pump circuit. "OORL" means the voltage or signal is Out Of Range Low, which typically points to a short to ground, an open circuit, a loss of power supply, or a completely failed washer pump motor.

   Perform a power cycle by turning the machine OFF for at least 30 seconds, then back ON to see if the code clears (nuisance code)

   Visually inspect all connectors and wiring associated with the washer pump and the VSM

   Check for a motor, pump, or drive output shorted to ground

   Check for a sustain drive supply failure or open circuit

   Inspect for a defective Ignition 1 Cab Relay

   Check if the wiper park switch is stuck open

   Inspect the Harness

   Locate the windshield washer pump reservoir and inspect the wiring harness connector at the pump. Look for broken wires, corrosion, or backed-out pins.

   Test the Pump Motor

   Apply direct 12V power and ground to the washer pump motor to see if it operates. If the pump does not run, the pump has suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.

   Check the Relay

   Locate the Ignition 1 Cab Relay in the fuse/relay panel. Test the relay to ensure it is functioning and providing the necessary sustain drive supply voltage to the circuit. Replace the relay if defective.

   Test Wiring to the VSM

   Disconnect the harness at the VSM and the washer pump. Use a multimeter to check for continuity on the drive circuit and ensure there is no short to ground. Repair or replace the wiring harness if a short or break is found.

   VSM Replacement/Reflash

   If the pump, relay, and wiring all test perfectly, the fault is likely a functional failure within the VSM controller itself. The VSM will need to be reflashed by a dealer or replaced.
