Yale 524255-3 – Display Switch Cluster (DSC): DSC Temperature OORH (Out Of Range High)

The Display Switch Cluster (DSC) is overheated. The internal temperature sensor of the display unit has detected a temperature exceeding its safe operating threshold.

   Verify if the forklift is operating in extremely high ambient temperatures or sitting in direct, intense sunlight, which can artificially heat the steering column and DSC.

   Feel the Display Switch Cluster. If it is excessively hot to the touch compared to the ambient temperature, there may be an internal electrical short causing it to overheat.

   Turn the forklift off, allow the cabin/dash area to cool down, and cycle the key switch to see if the code clears.

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting to the DSC for any signs of melting, chafing, or shorting that could be causing excessive current draw and heat buildup.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the battery ground wire to ensure safety.

   Lower Steering Column

   Lift up on the steering wheel slightly, pull up on the tilt lever, and push the steering column all the way down to its lowest position.

   Remove Column Cover

   Locate the two latch clips on the upper steering column cover (one on each side). Press both clips in simultaneously and pull the cover away from the steering column.

   Remove the DSC

   Remove the four bolts or Torx screws (typically T-15) securing the Display Switch Cluster in place.

   Disconnect Harness

   Carefully disconnect the Display Switch Cluster wiring harness from the back of the unit.

   Install New DSC

   Slide the new display panel onto the steering column, reconnect the wiring harness, and secure it with the mounting hardware.

   Reassemble

   Reinstall the upper steering column cover and reconnect the battery ground wire.

   Programming

   If a new (blank) Display Switch Cluster is installed, the PC Service Tool software must be used to perform a data copying sequence. The Truck Settings File (TSF) and configuration data must be transferred from the Vehicle System Manager (VSM) to the new DSC so the truck recognizes the new module.
