Yale 524255-4 – Display Switch Cluster (DSC): DSC Temperature OORL
Issue description
The internal temperature sensor within the Display Switch Cluster is reading a temperature that is below the acceptable operating range. This is typically caused by either operating the forklift in extreme cold environments or an internal hardware failure (open circuit) within the display's temperature sensor.

Check the cause
Verify the operating environment. If the forklift has been operating or stored in extreme cold (e.g., cold storage or winter weather), allow the truck to warm up to normal ambient temperatures and cycle the key to see if the code clears.
Check the wiring harness and connector at the back of the Display Switch Cluster for loose pins, moisture, or corrosion that could cause an open circuit reading.
If the environment is normal and the wiring is intact, the internal sensor has failed. The Display Switch Cluster is a non-repairable part and must be replaced.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn the forklift off and disconnect the battery ground wire.
Lower the Steering Column
Lift up on the steering wheel slightly and pull up on the tilt lever. Push the steering column all the way down so it is in its lowest position.
Remove the Steering Column Cover
Look at the top steering column cover. Pull up on the cover to release the two latch clips (one on either side) and pull the cover away from the steering column.
Remove the Bezel
Insert a small, flat-bladed screwdriver into the top slot on the inner edge of the display bezel and pry outward. Repeat this procedure at the lower slot on the bezel to release it.
Remove the DSC
Remove the mounting hardware (Torx screws) securing the Display Switch Cluster. Slide the assembly out and disconnect the electrical harness from the back.
Install the New DSC
Connect the electrical harness to the new Display Switch Cluster and secure it with the mounting hardware.
Reassemble
Snap the bezel back into place. Reinstall the upper steering column cover by aligning the two latches and pushing down until latched.
Test
Reconnect the battery ground wire, turn the key switch (or press the Power ON button), and verify that the display powers up and the 524255-4 fault code is cleared.
