Yale 524260-3 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Vehicle System Manager (VSM): 5VE2 Sensor Supply Circuit Voltage OORH
Issue description
The 5-volt sensor supply circuit 'E2' (5VE2) is reading a voltage that is 'Out Of Range High' (OORH), meaning the 5V reference circuit is experiencing a voltage higher than its designed 5 volts. This is typically caused by the 5V supply wire shorting to a higher voltage source, a damaged sensor internal regulator, or an internal functional failure within the controller.

Check the cause
Inspect the engine wiring harness for any visible damage, rubbing, or pinched wires, specifically looking for a short circuit between the 5V sensor supply wires (5VE2) and the main system power/battery voltage.
Disconnect the sensors powered by the 5VE2 circuit (such as the MAP sensor or Throttle Position Sensor) one by one to see if the voltage returns to normal.
Test the 5VE2 output pin directly at the ECU. If the wiring harness is completely isolated and the ECU is still outputting system voltage (e.g., 12V) instead of 5V on that pin, the controller has failed internally.

Repair Wiring
If a short to battery voltage or system power is found in the wiring harness, repair the damaged section of the wire or replace the harness.
Replace Faulty Sensor
If disconnecting a specific 5V sensor resolves the over-voltage condition, replace that sensor, as its internal regulator has failed.
Replace the ECU
If the wiring harness and sensors test normal, but the 5VE2 circuit is still outputting an out-of-range high voltage directly from the module, the ECU's internal 5V power supply is damaged. You must replace the Engine Control Unit.
