This ball joint connects the rear-axle steering linkage to the tie rod, transmitting steering input from the hydraulic cylinder to the wheel hub. It sits at the outer end of the drag link, where its spherical bearing allows the angular and rotational movement needed as the axle articulates. A worn joint produces free play in the steering, causing wandering and uneven tire wear. The Carraro-manufactured ball joint is machined to the same thread tolerances as the original assembly, so no shimming or adapter sleeves are required during installation. Tighten the locknut to the specified torque on reinstall.
