This piston is the moving element inside the hydraulic cylinder that converts fluid pressure into linear mechanical force. It is located within the cylinder assembly of the hydraulic system, where it translates pressurized oil from the control valve into extension or retraction of the cylinder rod. Wear on the piston seal or scoring on the piston surface allows internal leakage past the piston, which reduces cylinder holding force and causes drift under load. This original component is manufactured to the same bore clearance and seal-groove geometry as the original cylinder, so the piston-to-bore fit is maintained without requiring selective assembly. On reinstallation, inspect the cylinder bore for scoring and replace the piston seal and wiper.
