This release bearing is a tapered roller bearing, type 33020A, that sits in the front axle and drive system of the host machine. It supports the release mechanism for the clutch pack, transmitting axial load from the clutch fork to the pressure plate. A worn bearing produces a rumbling noise during clutch engagement and can cause incomplete disengagement, leading to gear clash. As an original component, the bearing uses the same raceway geometry and roller profile as the assembly it replaces, so the preload and clearance stack remain within the driveline specification. On installation, clean the bearing bore and shaft journal, and torque the retaining nut to the driveline service value.
