This oil seal retains lubricant in the axle housing and excludes contaminants from entering the bearing cavity. It is installed at the wheel-end or pinion location on the front or rear axle of the host tractor or telehandler. The seal's lip rides on the shaft or hub surface; a worn or hardened lip allows grease or oil to weep past, leading to bearing starvation and eventual failure. Corteco manufactures this seal to match the original housing bore and shaft dimensions, so the interference fit and lip pressure are correct for the application. On installation, ensure the bore is clean and free of burrs, and press the seal squarely into the housing without damaging the lip.
