Donaldson - P550127 - Fuel Filter Spin-On

This fuel filter element is installed in the engine fuel line to remove particulate and water contamination before fuel reaches the injection system. It sits in the filter head on the supply side of the lift pump, where it protects the injector nozzles and high-pressure pump from abrasive wear. A restricted filter causes a pressure drop that leads to hard starting, power loss, or erratic idle. The manufacturer machines the sealing surfaces to match the filter head bore, ensuring the bypass valve seats correctly and does not leak unfiltered fuel past the element. On replacement, lubricate the gasket and tighten the housing by hand only until the gasket contacts the head, then give an additional partial turn.
