This engine oil filter removes particulate contamination from the lubricating oil before it reaches the main bearing journals and the turbocharger supply. It mounts on the engine block and receives oil from the pump; the filter media captures wear debris and combustion byproducts that would otherwise accelerate bearing wear and ring sticking. A clogged filter forces the bypass valve open, allowing unfiltered oil to circulate, which increases the risk of scoring on the crankshaft and camshaft surfaces. The filter is manufactured by Donaldson to match the original seal geometry and thread pitch of the housing, ensuring the bypass valve seats correctly and the gasket seals without leakage. On installation, pre-fill the filter with clean oil and tighten the housing to the specified torque.
