It sits in the threshing drive position, where it couples the drive pulley to the drum input shaft. The belt is a two-rib design, which provides the necessary grip to transfer torque without slipping under load. As the belt wears, it loses tension and begins to slip, reducing threshing speed and causing uneven crop flow. A worn belt can also generate heat that damages the pulley surfaces.
