This engine oil filter removes particulate from the lubricating oil before it circulates through the engine's bearing surfaces and oil galleries. It mounts to the engine block and receives oil from the pump; a clean element maintains proper oil pressure and flow to the crankshaft and connecting rod journals. A clogged filter forces the bypass valve open, allowing unfiltered oil to reach the engine, which accelerates bearing wear. The filter's thread and sealing face match the housing interface so that no adapter or shim is required during replacement. On installation, lubricate the gasket with clean oil and tighten the filter to the torque specified by the engine manufacturer.
