A failing sensor typically causes a permanently lit warning lamp or an erratic gauge reading, which can mask a genuine loss of oil pressure. The sensor uses an M10 thread and is manufactured to match the original component's electrical resistance curve, ensuring the warning threshold activates at the correct pressure. When reinstalling, apply a small amount of thread sealant to the tapered threads and tighten to the specified torque.
